Visual website monitoring

Visual website monitoring, pixel by pixel

Visual website monitoring compares how a page looks now with how it looked when you approved it. TLDTrack captures the page in Chrome on a schedule, compares the area or element you chose pixel by pixel, and alerts you with before, after and difference images when more than 1% of it changes.

01 · Why it matters

Why visual monitoring matters

Some breakages never show up in the code or the status code. They only show up to the eye, and by then a customer has already seen them.

Catch design regressions

A deploy breaks a layout, a web font fails to load, a hero image goes missing, a cookie banner covers the page. The uptime check stays green; the page looks broken.

Watch prices and stock

Track a price, a stock badge or a key message on your own pages. Element monitors read the value by its CSS selector, so you see the old and new text in the alert.

Monitor just one area

Draw a box around the part that matters, the price, the headline, the call to action, and leave out the carousel and the ticker that change all day long.

See what moved

Each alert comes with the baseline, the new capture and a difference image, so you can show the client exactly what changed.

02 · Process

How it works

01

Choose what to watch

Pick an element TLDTrack finds on the page, or mark out an area. The first capture becomes the baseline, and saving it uses no credits.

02

We capture on a schedule

TLDTrack loads the page in Chrome at full height on the schedule you choose: hourly, every 6 hours, every 12 hours, daily or weekly. It waits for the page to settle and scrolls so lazy-loaded images appear.

03

We compare it

Each capture of your area is compared pixel by pixel with the baseline. Ads, videos and other embedded frames are hidden during checks.

04

You get alerted

When more than 1% of the area has changed, you are alerted by email, SMS, push, Slack or Teams, with the difference image waiting in your dashboard. Accept the change as the new baseline in one click.

Want to check what is in the page source too? Pair this with content monitoring, or read how website change monitoring brings the two together.

03 · Use cases

What people watch visually

Prices & stock

Watch your own product pages and get an alert when a price goes up, down or past a value you set.

Campaign landing pages

A high-spend ad landing page must never look broken. Catch a layout break before the budget burns through.

Design checks after deploys

A release ships and a web font fails or a section vanishes. The uptime check stays green; the visual monitor does not.

Client homepages

Agencies keep a visual baseline of every client’s key pages, so a CMS edit nobody mentioned does not slip past.

Banners & overlays

A new cookie banner or chat widget covering your call to action shows up as a change at the next check.

Things that should change

Get an alert when a news feed, an events list or a stock count has not changed for a set number of hours, days or weeks.

05 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Visualping?

The same core idea, baseline captures and pixel-level comparison, but it lives in the same dashboard as your uptime, DNS, SSL, content and security monitoring, with one bill and one alert inbox instead of another standalone tool.

Can I monitor just part of a page?

Yes. Draw a box around the area that matters, or click a single element, and only that part is compared, so a busy sidebar or a rotating banner does not trigger alerts.

How often is the page captured?

On a schedule you set per monitor: hourly, every 6 hours, every 12 hours, daily or weekly. Your first check runs within the hour.

Which pages can I monitor?

Any public page on a site in your account, or on its subdomains.

What counts as a change?

A visual monitor alerts when more than 1% of the watched area differs from the baseline. Element monitors compare the value itself, such as the text or the price.

What does it cost?

Each check uses one visual credit. Starter includes 150 a month, Pro 600 and Agency 2,000. A monitor checked daily uses about 30 a month.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every paid plan comes with a 7-day free trial and your card is not charged for 7 days.
